Ande-Ande Lumut: Engineering an Integrated Heavy Oil Development
Published 30 September 2026 · PT Tri Panji Puring
Overview
PT Tri Panji Puring has achieved a critical engineering milestone by successfully delivering the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for the Ande-Ande Lumut (AAL) Field. Located in the Northwest Natuna PSC and operated by Prima Energy, this greenfield project is a testament to our capability in designing complex offshore infrastructures for heavy oil extraction.
The Operational Context
Situated in a water depth of approximately 73 meters with zero existing supporting infrastructure, the AAL field contains 12 to 15-degree API heavy oil. Extracting and stabilizing these reserves demands pioneering engineering and uncompromising adherence to asset integrity and safety protocols.
Our Engineered Solution (Phase 1 Concept)
- Fixed Central Production Platform (CPP): Engineered to support 7 initial horizontal wells, firmly piled to the seabed.
- Fluid Transfer Architecture: Facilitating safe crude oil transfer to the FSO via an engineered bridge link or suspended catenary flexible production lines.
- Integrated Subsea Electrification: Deployment of catenary submarine power cables from the FSO to the CPP, providing immediate and continuous power to the Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESPs) essential for heavy oil lifting.
